Refinery89 joins IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework

We’re excited to announce the next big step we made! Refinery89 joined as the newest vendor to the IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework v2.2 (TCF). This means that we take thorough care of compliance with all obligations under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive.

 

What is IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework?

Introduced by IAB Europe in 2018, the TCF is a voluntary, industry-wide standard. It aims to harmonize the approach to data privacy and user consent across the online industry. By establishing a common framework, it seeks to ensure compliance with the ePrivacy Directive and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).  TCF takes into account relevant EU-level guidance from the EDPB and national-level guidance from Data Protection Authorities. This framework is the result of collaborative efforts. It aims to enhance a transparent and standardized user’s privacy experience.

 

Why It Matters

TCF is more than just a compliance tool. It represents a collective move towards a more user-centric digital environment. For publishers, advertisers, and technology vendors, it provides guidelines on how to navigate user consent and data processing in a manner that respects individual privacy rights. By aligning with the TCF, Refinery89 claims to not only meet legal obligations but also enhance the trust and transparency of users’ interactions.
